Debt payoff questions, answered

What is the best debt payoff strategy?
It depends on your goals. Avalanche usually saves the most interest by targeting highest APRs first. Snowball pays smallest balances first for quick wins. Highest-payment and utilization models optimize cash flow or credit usage. My Debt Coach lets you compare models side by side and pick a plan you can stick with.
Can I compare more than snowball and avalanche?
Yes. Choose any two of seven payoff models, including custom order, highest monthly payment, highest credit utilization, and balance sorts, then compare interest, timeline, and remaining debt on the same monthly budget.
Can I track credit cards, loans, and buy now, pay later (BNPL) together?
Yes. Add credit cards, personal loans, student loans, and buy now, pay later (BNPL) purchases in one debt tracker so your payoff timeline and payment calendar stay accurate.
Do you connect to my bank or make payments for me?
No. My Debt Coach does not link bank accounts or send payments on your behalf. We never ask for bank login credentials, routing numbers, or full card numbers. You enter balances and mark payments yourself. That is intentional. Paying off debt takes attention, and autopilot is often when due dates slip and extra payments stop. We give you a clear plan, calendar, and reminders. You stay in control of every dollar that leaves your account.
How does payment coaching work?
Your plan splits each month into Must pay, Focus, and Unspent. We track Minimum payments. Extra is the part above this month's interest. Focus leftover goes to your priority debt. Next up on Home shows what to pay. When a buy now, pay later (BNPL) plan finishes, we prompt you to refresh your monthly budget. Bell and email reminders cover overdue dues and milestones too.
Does My Debt Coach send payment reminders?
Yes. You'll get in-app notification bell alerts for overdue payments, late BNPL payments, and setup tips. Optional email digests cover upcoming due dates, and milestone alerts celebrate paid-off accounts.
Is My Debt Coach free?
Yes. My Debt Coach is free to use. You can create an account, add your debts, and build a payoff plan with no paid plan required. Optional support helps keep the tool free for everyone. Start with the live demo if you want to explore first.
How secure is my financial data?
We do not connect to your bank. You enter debt details manually, and only you can access your account data when signed in. Data travels over HTTPS and is stored on encrypted infrastructure. We never sell your information, and you can export or delete your data at any time.
Is there a My Debt Coach app?
For now, My Debt Coach lives in your browser. Use it on your phone, tablet, or computer, no download needed. There is no App Store or Google Play app yet. This is a passion project made for friends and family. A native app may come later if time and resources allow.
How do I get help?
Email support@mydebtcoach.app. We can help with account questions, data export, and using the planner.
